SALE OF WORK
The Rftle of work held at the Oddfellows' Hall last week to rase funds for tbe building ot a Sunday Schoolroom on the new church property in Bench Boad, Akaroa, near the new vicarage *hioh is to be erected, was oon Biderably spoiled owing ti the vary inclement wnather eipsrienoed, The venture hns re** Suited In tne netting of about £59 towards thia object, and wit' £100 granted by the Vestry, tbo Sunday School nt ff have now £150 towards the new building fund The want of a Sunday Schoolroom has baen a keen one for many yenrs, and beside* being of great service a a a Sunday School, it will also be utilised as a parish room. Thanks are due to M r e Julius, the Vicar's wife, and her many helpers who were untiring both for the and carrying out of tbe undertaking.- Following is a list of the receipts at the different stalls :—
Fancy stall. £11 10s sd: plain work, £8 10s Id ; apron and baskets, £7 10s; produm, £6 15s 7d ; sweat, £3 17a lOd : tea room, £i 16s 9d ; fish pond, £3 15s; door, £5 19s 9J; gramaphono, 8s dd; M.C.L, £4 63 81; cash in hand, £5 ; total, £62 10a Gd.
The proceeds of the M.C.L. stall goes lo the New Brighton Convalescent Home fo children, and other expenses will ba about £8, so that the real benefit to the Scbo I funds will be about £50. The stalls were till taken otnrga ot by members of the Sewing Guild, and the Vioar wishes to thank them most heartily for their untiring effo.ts to make Ihe sale a suooess.
A further sile will probtbly be held at a later date as a great deal oi the work donated has not been disposed of
