Miller, the Reform candidate in the Lyttelton by-election, has issued the following manifesto to the electors of the Peninsula ;— " I desire to thank all my supporters on the Peninsula who voted for me on the first ballot, and to urge upon them the necessity of coming forward on Tuesday next to help to win a victory for law and order over the forces of anarchy and lawlessness. There is only one issue before the electors: Shall the Federation of Labour rule in New Zealand and subject the people to tho constant danger of strikes, paralysis of trade, stoppage of transport, and consequent; iDJury and hardship to thousands of innocent people ? 1 appeal to the farmers and settlers of the Peninsula to reply with an emphatic negative, and to vote for open ports, in dustrial arbitration, recognition of the law of the land, and protection to the law abiding members of the com munity, Mr McCombs has declared his return will be a victory for the Federation of Labour. Liberals and Re formers alike should combine to defeat any such disaster, and they can only do so by voting solid for the Govern menfc at the second ballot. I claim to be a Liberal in every sense of, t the word, and, if returned, will support Liberal measures for tbe betterment of all ckases of tbe community.—M. J. Millar."
