OPAWA (134), AKAROA {Q9)

A most enjoyable match was played on tbe Akaroa tennis courts on Satur day last, when an Opawa team of three ladies and four gentlemen tried conclusions with a team of local players. The visitors came down by private car on Saturday morning, arriving in Akaroa at 10 o'clock, and play was starte_ at 10.80 a.m. There were some oxcellent games, notably the two ladies' singles, the second combined doubles and the first ladies' doubles. In all these games tbe score was 9-8, and in several cases tho game was only won by one stroke. Play with visiting teams is a great help to local tennis players, and it is to be hoped that the Akaroa Club will see a number of other teams in Akaroa, Opawa defeated Akaroa by 184 points to 99.
