Renewed disturbances have occurred lat Labern. Citizens bustled officers, who called out the guard. The front ranks knelt and threatened to fire unless the streets were cleared. The crowd fled, and the soldiers used the butt cod of their guns. Forty arrests were made, including two magistrates. . i Officers are unable to appear in the streets without a guard of fixed bayonets. Unofficial versions accuse the mili tary of violence, and the public demands the removal of the 9th mentThe authorities are much concerned and have ordered an enquiry.
