PENINSULA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The first annual meeting of tbis Association was held on Tuesday last in Messrs. Meares and Williams' office. Preseat— Messrs Jacobson (in the chair), E. E. Lelievre, Virtue, Leete, Earnshaw, Walßhaw, Dodds, and Orbell (hon. sec.) The minutes of the prior meeting were read and confirmed.

The balance sheet was then read It showed 46 members had subscribed, making a receipt of J65 15s. Messrs R. H. Rhodes H. Piper, C. L. Milne, and E. E. Lelievre had given special conations amounting to £6 4j 6d. Messrs T. E. Taylor, F. Wal- rshaw, J. S. Dodds, C. W. Leete, A. Rodrigues, H. Mottiam, H. 0. Jicobson, R. Latter and H. C. Orbell had given special prizas totalling £1 15a 6d, whilst the entry and door money at the two Shows held December, 190 \ and March, 1901, came to £20 5s 3d This made the total receipts £34 0* 3d of which £20 4s had been expended in prizes, and £9 7s 8d in rent of hall, advertising aud printing, carting, labour, freight, stamps, etc. This left a balance of £4 7s 41 to the credit of the Society.

Mr E. E. Lelievre congratulated the treasurer, Mr Orbell, on the success of the Association, and said the balance sheet, which bad been duly audited by Mr Leete, was a proof of the excellence of his management. He had much pleasure in moviQg its adoption. Seconded by Mr Walshiw and curied unanimously. Tho following officers were then elected on the motion of Mr Virtue, seconded by Mr Earns haw -.— President, R. H. Rhodes, Esq., M.H.R. Vice Presidents, Me.«srß E. E. Lelievre, J. Pettigrew, and C. L. Milne. Committee—Messrs H. C. Jacobson, T. Penlington.jW. Jolly, H. Mottram, E. Funnell, P. Jaquet, C. W. Leete, H. C. Orbell, aud Dr. Harg: eaves. Fon. Sec. and Treasurer, Mr H. C. Orbell On tbe motion of Mr E. E. Lelievre. seconded by Mr Virtue, it was resolved that all arrangements in connection with the coming Spring Show be left in the hnnds of the Committee. The Chairman moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Orbell for his services to the Society. That gentleman had been the life and soul of the Association, and its success was mainly due to the great trouble he had taken. Mr E. E. Lelievre, ia seconding, fully endorsed Mr Jacobson's remarks, and the motion was carried unanimously with acclamation. committeTT"meeting. At a Committee meeting held subsequently present, Messrs Jacobson (fn chair), Mottram, Leete, and Orbell, Mr Leete moved and Mr Mottram • seconded " That the Spring Show be held on Thursday, September 26th."

Carried unanimously.

The arrangement of the schedule was left in the hands of the Chairman, Hon. Sec, and Mr Mottram.
