Christchurch, November 30, ACCIDEINTT.
Robert Wilson employed at C. W. Turner's store was taken to the hospital with a broken and lacerated leg, the result of an accident to-day. GERMAN MEASLES. German measles is the name given to the epidemic at present prevailing in Christchurch. LYTTELTON GRAVING DOCK.
The graving dock opening is fixed for the 30th December, when a grand banquet will be held in the large export shed.
FIRE AT ONEHUNGA,
A fire occurred early this morning at Onehnnga. The loss of property is £4,000 about half of which is insured in various offices. THE CHRISTCHURCH ARSON CASES. Robert Ewing charged in Christchurch with petting his own house on fire was remanded. COMPELLED TO DO RIGHT. John Murphy was ordered to pay 12 months maintenance money into court in advance for the support of his mother who swore he was going out of the colony. THE ILLICIT STILL CASE. Regarding the Wellington illicit still case, the senior bailiff of the Magistrate's Court has put in an application to have the under bailiff De Norval suspended, owing to the matters in connection with the case. It is said that De Norval turned informer, and secured the arrest of the others in order to save bis own skin. THE WELLINGTON MAYORALTY. Mr Andrew Young, of Wellington, has fallen very much in the estimation of the citizens in consequence of the apathy displayed by him yesterday in contesting, or rather not contesting, the Mayoral election. People say that the tremendous thrashing he received at the hands of Mr Fisher served him right.
TROTTING MATCH AT DUNEDIN.
A trotting match for £100 a side comes off on Saturday at Dunedin, between Zulu and Ace of Clubs.
