Alexandra Bowling Club.
About twenty gentlemen attended the meeting on Monday evening last to decide whether the proposed bowling club should be formed in Alexandra. The mayor (Mr Schaumann) presided. The collectors reported that the sum of £ll4 had been promised in donations. Mr Perks had visited Alexandra and reported favorably on the site selected for tfie green. The section had been purchased for £' 12 10s. aud an estimate showed that the probable cost of the formation of the green amounted to £-3t. Mr Fink reported that he had succeeded in securing donations amounting to £6.
It was resolved that the bowling club be formed, to be named the Alexandra Bowling Club. The election of officers was then proceeded with and resulted as follows: Patron, Mr R. Scott, M.P.; president, 3lr H. Schaumann ; vice-presidents, Messrs R. J. M'Clintock and R. Ross; committee, Messrs J. J. O'Kane, J. Arnott, J. Pollock, P. Fink, Dr Gregg, D. Webster, G. Spencer; secretary, Mr A. M'Lean; treasurer, Mr G. Spencer. The annual subscription was fixed at £1 Is, with an entrance fee of 10s 6d. Dr Gregg moved, Mr Tait seconded— That all donations be collected at once, and that subscriptions be paid on or before the opening day.—Carried.
A recommendation was made that the colors of the club be white coat with green facings.
It was resolved to bank with the Bank of yew Zealand. A recommendation was made to the committee to ascertain tiie probable cost of both iron and paling fencing, the former being preferable although the cost would be much greater. The president and secretary were appointed collectors.
