FIRST TEST TEAM

AUSTRALIAN SIDE TO MEET.M.C.C. SYDNEY, Nov. 22. The Australian team to meet the M.C.C.' in the first test at Brisbane beginning on .December 1 is: R. N. Harvey A. L. Hassett J. Iverson I. Johnson W. Johnston R. R. Lindwall S. J. Loxton K. R. Miller J. Moroney A. R. Morris D. Tallon K. Archer is twelfth man. Cricket commentators see no surprises in the team. The only newcomer is Jack Iverson, of Melbourne, who at 35 will be making his first cest appearance. He is regarded as a mystery spin bowler, as hi s freakish delivery of che ball is unorthodox. Some experts expect great things of him against the Englishmen, but others say that because of McCool’s omission the team will be without a leg spinner. P. J. Millard, of the Melbourne “Herald,” one of several correspondents who forecast the team correctly, says: “On paper the team is the strongest since Bradman’s 1948 side. It is powerful and balanced. Lindwall showed against Victoria this week that he is a class bat. The bowling looks amazingly versatile. Both Johnston and Miller are able to switch to spinners or use the new ball. There is practically every type of bowler from shock to slow. In addition there are Miller, and Loxton, and, one might add, Lindwall, as allrounders.”
