ANNUAL HOLIDAYS
QUESTION OF STAGGERING (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A suggestion that the Department of Labour should confer with the employers’ and employees’ representatives in certain industries with a view of obtaining the voluntary adoption of a scheme for staggered holidays was made by Mr A. McLagan when he Annual Holidays Amendment Bill was being discussed in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr McLagan said there was a growing desire among the workers to get away from the Christmas period as their holiday time. If some system of staggering holidays was adopted, it. would help avoid congestion of travel and accommodation.
