This matter is more than ever necessary since the Reference Library at the Ashburton Club has been practically closed to members, owing to a new rule making it necessary for those who wish to refer for information, to first find the manager and get his permission to do so.—Sheep Figures: Forty years ago the number of sheep in the provincial district of Canterbury was 20,000. Now it is 4,000,000.
