WOMEN’S DIVISION
WESTERFIELD-LAGMHOR , MEETING > The November meeting of the West-erfield-Lagmhor W.D.F.F. was well attended. Mrs W. G. McCormick presided. Arrangements for the children’s party to be held on December 9 were finalised.
'The highlight of the afternoon was a demonstration and display of tatting given by Mrs F. Johnson, Ashburton, and a talk on flowers by Mrs W. A. Johnstone, ahso of Ashburton. Mrs McCormick thanked both ladies for their demonstrations, which were much appreciated by all.
The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames H. Small, J.. Quaid, and A. P. Thomson.
The competitions, which were judged by Mesdames Johnson and Johnstone, resulted: Floral spray, Mrs A. P. Thomson 1, Mrs C. Goodfellow 2, Mrs C. Lamb 3; malt biscuits, Mrs I. D. Fechney 1, Mrs G. Fechney 2, Mr 3 A. P. Thomson 3; collection of vegetables, Mrs I. D. Fechney 1, Mrs Goodfellow 2.
WINCHMORE BRANCH
At the November meeting of the Winclimoire branch of the W.D.F.F., the president (Mrs J. Cairns) reported on the garden party which she attended at Anama. Mrs P. Prebble read an interesting paper on the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases. Arrangements were finalised for the children’s Christmas party and dance. Members decided to hold the next meeting on the evening of December 14 instead of the usual meeting date. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs S. Sewell and Miss M. Jones. The monthly competitions resulted: Sweet peas, Mrs H. Nish; chocolate sponge roll, Miss M. Jones 1, Mrs H. Nish 2, Mrs S. Sewell 3.
