EVIDENCE OF TREASON (Rec. 12.15 p.m.) SAIGON, Nov.. 20. A small French post inside the southern zone of the Tonking Delta bridge head fell “by treason” yesterday, the French army announced to-night. The post is six miles north-east of Thaibinh and 50 miles south-east of Hanoi. . , x It is the second post to fall by treason within a few days. Both were manned by Viet Namese. _ The spokesman said that nine deserters were killed by Viet Namese “suppletive” —a soldier of the Viet Namese partisan forces hired by the French Army for 6s a d&y. The deserters escaped from the post. The French post which fell a few days earlier by treachery was manned by the Viet Nam State Government’s own civil guard. . . .. a French military spokesman said to-day that French Union forces destroyed Viet Minh camps and arms factories, several command posts, junks and sampans in a 10-day operation in Cochin-China. In other operations in Cochin-China insurgents lost 69 killed and 40 prisoners. Losses, on both sides were reported when a convoy was ambushed by insurgents near Tienyen on the north-east Tonking front.
