COLLAPSE ON TRAIN
ELDERLY PASSENGER’S DEATH
(P.A.) TAUMARUNUI, This Day. A Wellington man, Allan Richard Cornes, aged 63 years, while returning from a visit to Auckland on the first express last night, died suddenly in his seat when the train was travelling between Te Kuiti and Taumarunui. Cornes was about to eat a meat pie, and had taken one bite, when he collapsed. The body was removed from the train at Taumarunui for the holding of a post-mortem and inquest.
