IMPROVEMENT NOTICED

The weather in Ashburton to-day has showed a steady improvement on early' morning conditions. Although the sky throughout the day was overcast, the sun appeared at intervals through gaps in the clouds. A northerly wind influenced temperatures slightly. Recordings taken at the Domain recording office at 9 o’clock this morning and having reference to the 24hour period till then were:—Maximum 67.2 degrees, minimum 45.2 degrees, earth 63.1 degrees, barometer 29.66 inches. The sun shone for 7.65 hours yesterday.

OUTLOOK FAIR

The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:General situation: A depression, centred east of Auckland, is losing intensity, and. pressures are low to the south-west of the South Island. The forecast for the east coast o£ the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to midnight to-morrow is:— Light winds, north-easterlies predominating; weather fair to fine, with cool night and rising day temperatures.. Outlook for Thursday: Fair. SUN, MOON AND TIDES I Sun rose to-day, 4.59 a.m.; sets, 7.35 p.m. Sun rises to-morrow, 4.58 a.m.; sets, 7.37 p.m.

Full Moon, November 25, 3.14 a.m. Last Quarter, December 3, 4.22 a.m. New Moon, December 9, 9.28 a.m. First Quarter, Dec. 16, 5.56 p.m. High tide on the County coast tomorrow: 2.52 a.m. and 3.12 p.m.
