POLICEMAN ON LOCAL BODY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The claim made in a Press Association message from Whangarei yesterday that Constable R. J. Wright who had been elected to the Kohukohu Town Board was the first constable in New Zealand to be elected to a local body is contested by a correspondent of the “Evening Post.” He states that.for about four years Constable W. S. B. Hardy, of Havelock, at the head of Pelorous Sound, Marlborough, lias been a member of the local Town Board, and for about two years has been chairman of that body He retired from the police force about 18 months ago, and is still chairman of that board.
