PLAN MISFIRED

HOLD-UP TREATED AS JOKE (Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, June 20. The United Press Rome correspondent says that, armed with a machinegun and wearing a black mask, Carlo Pariano (23) stalked into a crowded restaurant in Savona last night and announced a hold-up. Everybody thought it was a joke. Pariano tried vainly to make laughing patrons listen, but when they formed a circle and began dancing around him, he gave up and left. The police caught him shortly afterwards.
