CHRISTCHURCH RAM FAIR
FALL IN AVERAGE PRICES' Not unexpectedly, the very heavy entry of SoutluloAvns at. the opening day of the Christchurch flock ram fair yesterday was much bigger than buyers could cope with, and a substantial fall in the average price of rams resulted. Ryelands sold dully, English Leicester's met a patchy sale, and Borders sold fairly Avell. Easily the best sale of the day AA'hs for Suffolks, of which only a handful Avere entered, and South-Suffolks sold nearly as Avell. The rams came foi’Avard in good order for the most part, and buyers once again shotved a preference for sheep Avell brought out. , In every breed there Avas the usual tail, but the opening was of good general standard. A total of 2112 rams Avas sold during the day, and' because of strict timekeeping, and the large number of passings, excellent time Avas made. Ashburton prices Avere:
