POLAND LEAVES WORLD BANK

Requests For Loan Rejected' / WASHINGTON, March 15. Poland has withdrawn from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Poland’s letter to the bank said: . “The bank refused to grant Poland a loan because Poland rejected the proposition of acceding to the socalled Marshall Plan, which has as its aim the subordination of Europe to the United States and the rebuilding of the war potential of Germany.” The hank to-day released the letter and said that a reply would he sent later. ' The bank at one time had under consideration Polish requests for a loan of 200,000,000 dollars. The bank was established to finance the reconstruction of war-damaged countries. Poland’s letter said that the bank’s activities had shown that it had violated its statutory requirement: to show no political discrimination. The International Monetary Fund was established to stabilise the world’s ■currencies. A spokesman for the fund interpreted Poland’s withdrawal from both institutions as a result of Russia’s “rouble diplomacy” and her policy of isolating herself and her satellites from the West.

Russia recenty increased the value of the rouble in relation to the United States dollar.
