LIGHT FROST TO-DAY
Overnight conditions in Ashburton were extremely unpleasant, due to the presence of a chilly south-easterly wind. However, there was only a light frost of 0.2 degrees this morning, and at 1 o’clock the sun was shining brightly, and temperatures were warm. Other recordings taken at 9 o’clock this morning were: —Maximum temperature 55.8 degrees, minimum 39.2 degrees, earth 52.8 degrees, barometer 29.47 degrees. The sun shone for a total period of 10.1 hours yesterday. MAINLY FAIR (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: General situation: A deep depression lies south of New Zealand. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: Moderate winds from a westerly quarter; showers at times about the high country, elsewhere fair to fine; temperatures cool., Further outlook: Mainly fair. * SUN, MOON AND TIDES ________ > Sun rose to-day, 6.26 a.m.; sets, 6.54 p.m. Sun rises to-morrow, 6.27 a.m.; sets, 6.53 p.m. New Moon, March 19, 3.20 a.m. First Quarter, March 27, 8.09 a.m. Full Moon, April 3, 8.49 a.m. Last-Quarter, April 9, 11.42 p.m. High tide on the County coast tomorrow, 1.17 a.m. and 2.18 p.m.
