UNIONS UNABLE TO DEREGISTER

UNIONS TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY (P.A.) AUCKLAND, January 10. Technical" difficulties which have arisen .will prevent the New Zealand Tramways Union from deregistering on Monday, as had been intended in the absence of a new national agreement. This means that unless there is some unexpected development, the present conditions, will - prevail until the men’s claims have been dealt with by the Arbitration Court. The position is that the union cannot proceed with its application for deregistration while proceedings are pending under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, the matter having been referred to the Arbitration Court. The decision to deregister if no agreement was reached meanwhile was made at stop-work meetings in different parts of the Dominion in November.
