Tests Last Night

RESULTS SATISFACTORY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Radio photographs were sent to and received from the United States for the first time last night. Announcing this the Hon. F. Hackett said the tests, which were made with a station of RCA Communications Incorporated, at San Francisco, were with a view to establishing eventually a photo-telegram service with the United States. This would be an extension of the radio-photo service operating since November with the United Kingdom and Australia. Two outward pictures were transmitted last night and two received, and a further two were received in Wellington frqm San Francisco to-day. Post Office technical officials described the results as very satisfactory.
