WAKANUI SHOW
OVER 800 ENTRIES Over 800 entries have been received for the Wakanui Hall Society’s annual show and fair, to be held in the hall to-morrow, opening at 2.30 and continuing in the evening. Besides all the usual sections, there will be many competitions during the afternoon, including car driving, chain stepping, tilting the ring, rooster catching, sheepdog race, sheaf-tossing and a treasure hunt for children. Numerous other competitions and side shows, also a fine programme of items, will be staged in the evening. Excellent contributions have been promised for the cake, produce, variety and work stalls, with a special sale of produce during the evening. The Ashburton Silver Band will be in attendance. A bus leaves Burnett Street stand at 2 p.m. The Mayor (Mr E. C. Bathurst) will perform the official opening.
