TRIESTE DISPUTE
YUGOSLAVIA DOES NOT WANT GORIZIA (Rec. 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, March 23. The Yugoslav Government spokesman said to-day that Yugoslavia avoulc! not ask for Gorizia in exchange for Trieste. The Foreign Minister, M. Simitch, in a statement yesterday, merely expressed the Government’s readiness to negotiate. Earlier in Rome the Italian Foreign Office spokesman said that Italy rejected Yugoslavia’s offer to exchange Trieste for Gorizia. The spokesman disclosed that France confirmed “in a most absolute manner” her willingness to agree that Italy should administer the colonies of Eritrea, Somaliland and Libya. The spokesman said that Russia had also stated her willingness to have the administration of the colonies revert to Italy. The Rome correspondent of the Associated Press says the United States, while yet to make a formal pronouncement, is also believed in Rome to agree with France. The British position has not been made clear.
