COLLISION ON CROSSING

CAR STRUCK BY RAKE OF TRUCKS (P„A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 22. When a car was struck by a rake of wagons pushed by a shunting engine o n the Colombo Street railway crossing at 11.35 o’clock this evening, the occupants escaped injury, but the car was severely damaged. The driver was Roland Gordon Bradley, of 250 Surnner Road, Monck’s Bay. The only passenger in the car, Mrs D. E. Stewart, of 283 Colomo Street, was taken by St. John ambulance to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where she was treated for a few minor cuts and discharged. The rake of trucks was travelling fairly slowly towards the station when the accident occurred. The wagons were not damaged, but the points on the track were damaged slightly, and a pole carrying an overhead wire was pushed slightly askew. The bodywork of the car was shattered on tire driver's side.
