RED CROSS MEETING

LOWCLI FFE-COLDSTREAM SUB-BRANCH

There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the LoweliffeColdstream sub-branch of the Red Cross Society. Mrs R. E. Cross presided, and welcomed Mesdaines J. Connor and H. L. .Barker. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the fate. Miss Hawkins. The annual report showed a year of continued goou progress and the membership stands at 80. Donations have been sent to Corse (as well as CIO spent on garments and materials) Dominion Headquarters, Ashburton Red Cross Centre, Crippled Children’s Association, Diversional Therapy, iTeaith Camp and Leper’s Trust Fund. Throe parcels of clothing, containing 00 garments and cot covers, were sent to England. A food for Britain drive enabled the branch to send 20' food parcels, comprising in all 105 tins of food, (iratefnl letters have been received from the recipients. Airs Connor (patroness of the Ashburton Red Cross Centre) congratulated the branch on their activities during the year, and their strong membership. She gave, an interesting talk-on Red Cross work, and made a special appeal for the collection of fat for Britain. Mrs Barker delighted members with some of her experiences as Red Cross hospital visitor during the past seven years. Both ladies we're accorded a vote of thanks and presented with a spray of flowers. It was decided to bold a. garden parlv in aid of funds at the residence of Mr and Ai rs D. S. Riudholine. Officers elected for the ensuing year were: —Patron, Mr W. McKeage; jointpresidents, Afesdames R. E. Cross and E. S. Barnes: vice-presidents. Alesdam.es B. R. Rtudholme and H. Tait ; secretary. Miss K. Tail ; treasurer. Airs T). AT, Bruce: auditor, Mr R. E. Cross: delegate. Aliss E. Tail . At, the conclusion to the business supper was served by the hostesses, Afesdames E. R. Barnes and H. Price.
