PRISON SENTENCE IMPOSED (P.A.) GISBORNE, This Day. “It. is a shocking stale of affairs when a son attacks his mother,” caul (lie Magistrate, Mr E. L. Walton, in the Magistrate's Court to-day in sentencing Elmore Cnthbert Verry to one month’s imprisonment. Accused pleaded guilty to assaulting his 64-year-old mother. According to tlie police, accused tame home under the influence of drink, and following an argument, struck his mother, who was admitted to hospital ■suffering from shock, bruises, two black eyes and abrasions.
