CATTLE SALE AT TEMUKA STRONG DEMAND FOR-STEERS About 450 calves and grown cattle from Mt. Peel and Orari Gorge Stations were offered at the Temuka saleyards yesterday. The cattle penned were in excellent condition and were submitted to a large attendance of local and outside buyers. A feature of the sale was the strong demand for steer calves, several pens realising £9. i Values were: Steer calves £7 15s to £9; heifer calves £5 to £6 ss: ISmonths heifers £9 to £11; fat steers £ls to £l9 15s; fat heifers to £l7; fat cows to £l6 ss.' STOCKS AND SHARES The following transactions were recorded on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday:— Sales on ’Change—Kaiapoi Woollens (17s paid), 29s Id; Dunlop Rubber, 38s Sd (2); Woolworths (Syd., ord. rights), ISs Gd; Woolworths (Syd. ord. rights), 18s 3d (2); Austral N.Z. Mining, 11s Gd. Unlisted: Whalcatane Paper Mills, 6s Sd (3). Sales reported: Commercial Bank of Sydney, £25 10s; Bank of New South Wales, £4O ss; Dalgety and Co., £l2 ss; Felt and Textiles (Aust.t, 61s 3d; Ballins Breweries (L.S.Y.), 36s Gd; Mason Struthors (14s paid), 16s; New Coloseum, 52s (2).
