GORSE NOT CLEARED

FARMERS BEFORE COURT * Further prosecutions of farmers, for failing to clear gorse and other growth from road frontages, were heard by Mr G. G. Chisholm S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Ashburton this afternoon. All actions were brought by the County Council, for whom Mr R. Kennedy appeared. Penalties were imposed as follows: Arthur Boxall £5 and costs £1 11s. William Gilmore ordered to pay costs £1 13s only, John Gordon Woodham £5 and costs £1 13s. Charges against eight others were adjourned or struck out.
