TRANSIT HOUSING SCHEME

GOVERNMENT CONTROL URGED (P.A.) WELLINGTON. April 17. Two resolutions passed at to-day’s annual stop-work meeting of the Wellington Waterside Workers’ Union were: “That it be recommended to the Government that it take the transit housing schemes froni'the control of local bodies, and prosecute the schemes with the same vigour and success as it did with military establishments during the war years”; and “that the Government he recommended to bring down legislation giving it power to take control of all empty house properties.” Mr E. A. Napier, secretary, and Mr T. G. W’ells, vice-president, and Mr'C. Henry, trustee, have been re-elected unapposed. Other positions are contested, and will be decided at the annual elections next Wednesday.
