PRESENTATION MADE
MR AND MRS GEORGE KNOX Mr George Knox who has been on the staff of Mr Reg Stephenson, auctioneer, for the last 11 years is today terminating his association with that establishment. Mr Knox is setting up a business in Sydenham, Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Knox, whom the president (Mr A. H. Todd) described as very valuable members, were entertained last ’ evening by members of (lie Allenton Sports’ Club. Mr Todd, in wishing the guests-of-honour well, presented lliem with a handsome mir-ror-topped desk. Mr J. Templeton spoke for the howling section and Mrs J. P. Boothroyd for the croquet section, both paying tribute to Mr and Mrs Knox, who were specially interested in bowling and croquet respectively. Mr Knox was for a time green-keeper. The evening passed off pleasantly with a flag 500 tournament, the prizes being won by Mrs J. P. Boothroyd and Messrs C. Good and W. Wellman. Reference to Mr Knox’s departure was made by Mr R. Stephenson at his auction sale to-day. Mr Knox will be succeeded by Mr L. P. Stephenson, who has lately been the assistant town clerk.
