SECOND NOTE

SEIZURE OF ITALIAN SHIPS (Rec. 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, April 17. Britain is sending a second note to Yugoslavia protesting against the seizure of nine Italian merchantships, including the crack liner Rex. Yugoslavia’s reply to the first note was unsatisfactory. Britain contends that such ships should be placed at the disposal of the United Nations under the armistice with Italy. Yugoslavia regards herself as not bound by t lie armistice. The United States is also protesting to Yugoslavia.
