AUSTRALIAN INCREASE
BASIC WAGE RATES SYDNEY, April 17. A cost of living rise in the basic wage for Sydney amounting to 2s a week will operate from the first period of next month. An increase of Is has been approved in Brisbane and Adelaide. . The new basic wages are: —Sydney £5 10s, Melbourne £5 7s, Brisbane and Hobart £5 4s, and Perth £5 3s.
