TRAFFIC BREACHES
LONG ASHBURTON LIST Breaches of the traffic regulations resulted in a large bach of prosecutions before Mr G. G. Chisholm, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Ashburton this morning. Regarding charges of cycling without lights, the Magistrate issued a warning that torches held in the hand did not comply with th eregulations. Penalties were imposed as follows: i Cycling to the right of more than one cycle proceeding in the same direction: Ivor Colin Campbell, 10s ] and costs 11s. 1 Cycling at night without a light: I Eric Bromley Carter, 10s and costs' 12s; Roland William Cavill, 10s and 1 costs 12s; Lloyd George Childs, 10s and costs 11s; Henry Malby Cotton, 5s and costs 11s; Alison Hughes 10s. and costs 10s; Elizabeth Welsh Kilgour Preston, 10s and costs 10s; Arnold W. Stayt, 10s and costs 11s. Using cycle without rear white mudguard: Henry Malby Cotton, 5s and j costs. Exceeding speed limit in a motor vehicle: Leslie David Lamb, Cl and costs 10s; Lindis William Roberts, £1 and costs 10s. . Failing to give way to traffic from! (lie right: David McKav, £2 and costs| 11s. " ! For careless riding of a cycle, in that he rode with his hands in his pockets, John Hunter Thomas was fined ss, with costs 10s.
