CHURCH HALL FUND

pARPEN PARTY AT ALLENTON A fund for a Church of England hall in Allenton has been opened and the first function in aid of it was a garden party, organised by Mrs G. Harris, held yesterday at the residence of Mr and Mrs C. Hale, Allenton. It is understood that a most satisfactory sum was raised by this inaugural function, which was well attended and favoured by pleasant weather. The Ven. Archdeacon C. L. Mountfortopened the garden party and thanked all who had contributed to its success. Stalls did brisk business. The miscellaneous stall was conducted by Mesdnmes E. C. Bathurst and C. Campbell and Miss R. E. Douglas, and the afternoon tea was in charge of Mesdnmes W. J. Collins, P. Noble, G. Hosken, W. Storey, 1,. IT. Mori arty and J. Ward. Croquet competitions were won by Mesdames .T. M. Wilkie, K. Scott and Argyle and Messrs W. Bishop and E. C. Bathurst. A cake competition was won by Mrs C. L. Moodie, of Mount Somers.
