PEAKS CLIMBED
RECORD OF EREWHON MOUNTAINEERS \ The activities of the branch since it was formed last September, after being in recess for six years, were reviewed at the annual meeting of the Erewhon branch of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club last evening. Major peaks climbed by club parties 'were: Kuri (first ascent), Arrowsmith (Peak, 7944 feet (first ascent), Cloudy Peak, Pollux Peak, Malte Bruri and Marquee Peak. The first traverse of the High Thumb and ascent of the Low Thumb was an outstanding achievement of one party. Arrangements were made for two trips before Christmas, both parties being due to leave on December 14. One party has as its object the mapping of the Armoury Range, and the other is going into the Cameron Valley to make an attempt on Tent Peak. Officers were elected as follow: — Chairman, Mr C. Denham; secretary and treasurer Mr T. James; committee, Messrs E. Burdon, A. Dixon, W. Vaughan, D. Gordon, and E. Bray; recorder, Mr Burdon. Mr E. Bray presided.
