SUPPLIES AND SERVICES. CONTINUATION FOR FIVE YEARS. (N.Z. Press Association— Copyright.) (Rec. 2.5 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 23. The text has been issued of a Bill which is designed to continue for five years certain wartime controls over supplies and services in the period of transition from war to peace. The purpose of the Bill, it is stated, will be:— (1) To secure at fair prices a sufficiency of supplies and services essential to the community’s wellbeing or their equitable distribution. (2) To facilitate the readjustment of industry and commerce to the community’s peacetime requirements. (3) To assist in the relief of suffering, and the restoration and distribution of essential supplies and services in any part of the Dominions or foreign countries which are gravely distressed as a result of the war. The Rill particularly provides for control of prices and charges. It. increases Parliamentary control over orders issued under regulations.
