Mr ChurcliiU’s first literary task will he his war diary, says the “Daily Telegraph.” It is unlikely that lie will allow any outside engagements to interfere with this undertaking until it is well under wav. He has received dozens of offers from America to contribute articles, write a daily column, to serialise his memoirs and conductlecture tours, but his secretary stated that he had made no plans for the time being. The Secretary for War, Mr J. J. Lawson, disclosed in the House of Commons that there are 090 British and Commonwealth troops, excluding Indians, who were war prisoners in Germany, still unrecovered or unaccounted for by Allied forces. * * *• * The Lancashire and Cheshire Coal Association, representing the coalowners, passed the following resolution: “The Government, having decided that the coalmines shall be nationalised, this association places itself fully at the disposal of the Government, both in connection with working out the necessary organisation and in connection with arrangements necessary to ensure that the transfer from private ownership to the new organisation is. accomplished in a smooth and efficient manner.”
