STRONG PROTEST.

CONFIRMATION OF BISHOP. (Ree. 11.30 a.ni.) LONDON, Aug. 21. The National Union of Protestants is opposing tlie confirmation to-mor-row of Dr. Wand as Bishop of London. The Union, in a protest to the VicarGeneral alleges that “as an extreme Anglo-Catholic Df, Wand is not a fit and proper person for the position. His religion is not the religion of the Church of England, as established by -its laws.” . The protest adds: “Dr. Wand failed to carry out his declaration in liis for(mer diocese of Bathwells that he would banish all erroneous and strange doctrines contrary to the Church of England. Although Dr. Wand is prepared to give a similar undertaking when lie is consecrated Bishop of London, there is no reason to expect that lie will be more faithful to -such a promise than in his former diocese.”
