DANGER OF FAMINE.
GERMAN HARVEST DAMAGED. (Rec. 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 21. The long period of unbroken rain in Germany, which has gravely damaged the harvest, is causing anxiety, says the correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph,” at Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery’s Headquarters. The harvest promised to yield a good crop, but the weather will certainly reduce it to well under normal, necessitating the importation of future supplies to prevent widespread famine.
