AIRMEN ENTERTAINED

SOCIAL AT EALING. The Ealing Library Hall Avas the scene of an enthusiastic gathering when the residents of the Carew and Ealing districts united at a social and dance in honour of Aircraftman James Jones. Mr H. C. B. Withell, who presided, presented Aircraftman Jones Avith a fountain-pen and Evorsharp pencil from residents of Ealing, and Mr E. Banks, on behalf of the Oarew district, made Uie presentation of a liold-all.

Mrs G. W. South spoke for the Ealing Ladies’ Patriotic Guild, and presented a complete outfit of knitted comforts. Miss M. Cormack also made a presentation of a liussif and socks from the CareAv Comfits Committee. Other speakers, all of Avliom eulogised the sterling qualities of the guest of honour, especially in his work among the young people of both districts, Avere Mr J. Cormack (CareAV Presbyterian Church), Mrs Giddings (Ealing School), Mrs Mackenzie (Women’s Institute) and Mr R. Good (Rifle Club).

A Avarm Avelcome Avas extended to Driver D. Cormack, recently invalided home from overseas, and Signaller Hilliard, on furlough from the Pacific, Elocutionary items Avere given by Mrs Maries (Geraldine). Dance music wan supplied by Mr Dabourne, and Mr Good 'war, master of ceremonies.
