REDUCTION IN AUSTRALIA. EFFECT UPON THE WAR EFFORT (Rec. 12.30) CANBERRA, This Day. The Prime Minister (Mr J. Curtin) told the conference of Premiers of all States now being held here that unless the production of coal in Australia showed a substantial advance the whole Avar effort of the Commonwealth would he less this year than in 1943. Too much coal >vas being lost through stoppages; If the men and management of the coal industry vvoirtd pull together without pin-prick-ings, one of Australia’s great basic problems would be lessened.
