ACCUSED FOUND GUILTY.

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 12. The trial of Franklin John Smith, aged 4G, a showman, was completed before Mr Justice Callan to-day. Accused Avas charged with obtaining £BG 10s from a woman by falsely representing that he Avas chief warder at the Auckland gaol and could obtain the release of her husband from prison, and also Avith obtaining £l2 10s from William Henry Faulkner by representing that lie was the chief steward of a ship and required the money to clear goods through the Customs.

Counsel submitted that the Crown had failed to identify accused Avith the crimes charged. Accused Avas found guilty on both counts and remanded for sentence.
