LABOURERS’ F;E(DERATIOM VIEWS (P.A.) WANGANUI, November 26. The annual conference of the New Zealand Labourers’ Federation was held at Wanganui. At the opening session, Mr L. Glover, the national president, presided. Twenty delegates attended from all parts of New Zealand, representing 14,000 workers. The conference, after recalling that it had never endorsed conscription for overseas service, placed on record its opinion that now conscription was law it was only just that all sections of tile community should share the burden equally. It also protested against any section of the community sheltering behind its own importance to avoid service.
The conference also adopted a declaration protesting that there were those “wlio were only being asked to lend money, while others were compelled to give their lives,” and urging that money for war finance be raised byi the same methods as manpower.
