HEAVY FINES IMPOSED.

BREACH OF FUEL REGULATIONS. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, September 13. Fines totalling £6O were imposed by Mr F. H. Ijsvien, S.M. in the Magistrate’s Court on Frank‘Stanley Thompson, proprietor of a service station at Khybcr Pass, for two breaches of thq oil fuel restrictions. He pleaded guilty. The police stated that between May and August there wore shortages of 1100 gallons, compared with the) coupons and licences in Thompson’s possession. He had reported to detectives that petrol had been stolen, but after inquiries we t re made he said it had probably been sold. Defending counsel said Thompson had. been muddled in his figures. He was now employing an accountant. The Magistrate said tlierci was no possible excuse. Thompson appeared to have been “making al welter of it.” Ho was fined £36 on one charge) and £25 on the other.
