Mr J. G. Gardiner (Minister of Agriculture) in the House of Commons said every unmarried Canadian between 21 and 45 years may be compelled to do 30 days military training within the year.
‘‘There is no reason why Canada should not train 1,00.000 men and still operate! her primary and secondary industries. iP'ossibly the calling up of the unmarried, men from 21 to 25 will satisfy the requirements of the first year. The only exemptions will be judges, clergy, polica and fire'men. Employees will be required under penalty to reemploy the trainees.” Mr Gardiner added that Canada was in a better position than ever before to supply foodstuffs to thei "United Kingdom.
