THE WEATHER.
A MILD ATMOSPHERE TO-DAY. A light northwest breeze prevailed in Ashburton to-day, making the atmosphere mild. The sky was lightly clouded, A frost of 1,1 degrees was registered during the night. The, maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were $7.9 and 25.5 degrees, which are slightly below the 63.4 and' 31.3 degrees con the previous day. The barometer rend 29.98 inches today, having fallen a little. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : An anti-cyclone is moving slowly eastward off the North Island while a depression is advancing across the south Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate to fresh northerly winds, rain developing in the< ranges. Weather fair to fine on the plains. Moderate temp natures. Seas slight to moderate.
