ATTACKS ON MALTA.
SEVERAL RAIDERS DOWN.
NO BRITISH LOSSES.
(Received This Day, 1.50 p.m.) MALTA, July 28. Fighters destroyed three enemy ’planes and anti-aircraft gunfire destroyed one near Malta to-day. A British ’plane attacked three enemy fighters, following which one was shot down in flames and another put out of control. Other British ’planes attacked several fighters, one of which broke up in mid-air.. There were no British losses. ADMIRATION EXPRESSED. NAVAL MEN’S CONDUCT’. I (Received This Day, 11,1.5 a.m.)
LONDON, July 28
The First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr A. V. Alexander) and the Chief of the Naval Staff (Admiral of the Fleet tSlir Dudley Pound) in a. message to the officers and men of British ships and in 'the dockyard at Malta express admiration for the stout-hearted way in which they -are facing continued attacks cf tire enemy.
