SYDNEY-AUCKLAND.
AOTEAROA'S FAST FLIGHT. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, October 1. The flying-boat Aotearoa flew from Sydney to Auckland in 9hrs lOmin today. The craft travelled from Auckland to Australia on Sunday, September 24. Leaving Sydney on the return flight at 4.14 a.m.. (Sydney time) to-day, she landed on the Waitemata at 3.25 ,p.m. (N.Z. time), with Captain Burgess as commander. The crew and officials aboard totalled 12. Both the flight to Sydney a week ago and the return journey to Auckland were uneventful. START OF THE SERVICE. OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT SOON. SYDNEY, September 30. Mr M. Clark (general manager of Union Airways, New Zealand), who flow from Auckland for a conference with the Commonwealth Government on the trans-Tasman air mail service, said that he was unable to say when the service would commence. Ho added that the Australian and New Zealand Governments would make an announcement shortly.
