PRICES FULLY FIRM

THE WOOL SALE AT NAPIER.

keen competition rules, good demand for coarse. (Per Prees Association.) NAPIER. This Day. Values fully firm on those at Auckland last Saturday ruled at the first wool sale of . the Napier series to-day. The catalogue comprised 24,000 bales. There was a full bench of buyers and competition was keen, particularly by Continental and Bradford operatois, who dominated the market. The quality of the clip offered was outstanding, better than for a mlmbei of years, owing to the excellent season almost throughout. The .fleece wools were particularly long in staple, and values for these were up to 13fd. A marked feature was the demand for ' coarse types of wool, one line of Lin- * coin cross selling at 13d. Crutchings I also sold well, up to 9*d being realised ‘for this class of offering. I The good season was reflected in the ‘quality of the wools from back-country • stations, much of the fleece off hard -country selling to 12d. ‘ Good clearance was effected, passings [ being extremely few. The estimated result of the sale is that over £350,000 will be realised for ’farmers in the Hawke's Bay district. Last season produced a particularly poor wool clip and it is estimated that i this year’s yield represents an inl crease of 30 per cent.
