WINE AS FOOD.

“BETTER THAN DIRTY MILK.” SOUTH AFRICAN DOCTOR’S VIEWS. , United Press Association —Copyright .J LONDON, November 24. Dr. Louis Leipoldt, secretary of the South African Medical Council, and a well-known dietitian, is advertising for identical twins on which to experiment to determine the relative food values of milk and wine, says the Cape Town correspondent of “The Times.” Dr. Leipoldt, at the opening of a recent wine show, caused a stir by declaring that it was better to drink wine than dirty milk. Throughout the world, lie said, propaganda for milk was founded on a mistaken idea of food values. “Milk as food for people without teeth. A few raisins and a slice of bread is a better meal,” he added. Protests against these statements led to the plan to experiment with twins, who will be given free board and lodging but no payment. Wine-growers are co-operating in the experiment, which will be controlled by a medical committee.
